Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a typical repair take?

Small patches take a few hours across two visits: one to patch, one after the mud dries to sand and finish. Full rooms take a few days plus drying time between coats.

Will the repair match my wall texture?

Yes — matching texture is part of the job. We match orange peel, knockdown, and smooth finishes so the repair blends in. A good texture match is what makes a patch vanish.

Do I need to move furniture?

Just the small stuff and valuables. We shift big pieces to the middle of the room, cover everything in plastic, and put it all back when we are done.

Can you work while I am at work?

Usually, yes. Most of our work happens during the day. We lock up behind us, clean up, and the walls are further along when you get home.

What causes cracks to keep coming back?

Movement. Houses settle and shift with the seasons, and a crack filled with spackle just opens again. We re-tape the seam properly so it stays shut.

Is drywall dust dangerous?

Drywall dust is a nuisance, not a toxin — but nobody wants to breathe it. We hang plastic barriers and control dust at the sander. Old texture (pre-1980s) can be a different story, so we treat it with care.

Do you fix water-damaged drywall?

Yes. The leak has to be fixed first — new drywall over an active leak is money wasted. Then we cut out the wet board, let the framing dry, and hang fresh board.

Should I repair or replace the whole wall?

Repair wins when the damage is local: a hole, a crack, a stain. Replacement wins when whole sections are soft, sagging, or water-damaged. We tell you straight which one your wall needs.

Can you match 20-year-old paint?

We finish repairs paint-ready, and we can paint the patch. Matching old paint exactly is hard — sun fades it over the years. We will tell you honestly whether a full wall repaint will look better.

Do you do commercial work?

Our focus is homes. Repairs, installs, and ceilings in houses across Richmond. For offices or retail, call and describe the job. If it fits our crew, we will say so.
